Patient Participation Group

The Upton Village Surgery Patient Participation Group consists of volunteer patients and GP Practice Staff who meet regularly to maximise the opportunity for positive change in the local health service and to develop a more informed patient community.

Non-urgent advice: Our Aims

  • Encourage a collaborative forum between the Practice and our Patient Community
  • Provide a patient perspective to the Practice
  • Help encourage patients to influence their local healthcare services with their ideas and opinions
  • To identify services and issues where the Practice should consult with patients, consider any comments resulting from these consultations and support the Practice in responding to them
  • To support the practice with projects, drafting communications and other feedback
Our accomplishments:

We conducted a Patient Survey to find out the issues that you felt needed to be addressed by the Practice: You said, we did!

  • "Difficulty getting through on the phone at 8am" - The practice heavily invested in a new phone system which offers a call-back system to hold your place in the queue if a receptionist is engaged on another call when you phone.
  • "We would like to be able to consult online" - The practice has introduced Patchs which allows you to consult with your GP for health and admin issues. Please click here to sign up or find out further information about this service.
  • "Renovations are needed at the practice, particularly the waiting area and patient toilets" - The practice has paid for renovations to be done in the waiting area, patient toilets and corridors, as well as internal improvements in staff areas.
  • "I would like face to face appointments and not telephone" - The practice offer both telephone and face to face consultations. Our appointments are under constant review to ensure we are flexible to the needs of our patients. All our GP's offer a mix of face to face or telephone consultations.
