Car Park
Please be aware that on Thursday 21st and Friday 22nd November, our usual entrance/exit to the car park will be blocked off and no entry due to ongoing car park repairs. Entrance and exit into the car park will be through the barrier next to the library. We apologise for any inconvenience this causes. The situation will be closely monitored to ensure everyone can enter and exit the car park safely.
Car Park Update
From Tuesday 5th November and lasting for 3 days, there will be reduced space and additional traffic in our shared car park due to car park repairs and improvements being made by the Pavilion. We have been told 5 spaces will be unavailable and at times there will be lorries and work men on-site. There will still be access to and spaces available in the car park but we would recommend that if you are able to do so to consider walking to the practice next week. Thank you for your understanding.
Practice Closure for Staff Training and Development
We will be closed from 1pm today (16th October) for staff training and development. We will reopen from 8am on Thursday 17th October. If you require medical assistance during the time we are closed, please call 111, or 999 if an emergency.
There will still be access to the on-site Pharmacy for the duration of their usual opening hours.
Practice Updates
We are thrilled to announce the completion of two projects at the practice which we our confidour patients will love!
Firstly, we have installed automatic doors to the main entrance doors and the doors seperating the waiting area to main consulting corridor. Our previous doors were wooden and heavy and we understood this made accessing the practice a struggle for some patients, particularly wheelchair users and those with a pram. We hope the installation of these automatic doors are a welcome improvement to all our patients and visitors and a big step forwards for us being easily accessible to all.
Secondly, we have undergone a room conversion of a stock room + admin room to create a NEW clinical consultation room. We have a big team here at the practice and to allow us to continue to expand our team of clinicians and offer more appointments - we need the space! Our new clinical room is called "Room 6" and is along the main corridor.
Pictures of these projects are available to view via our Facebook page which you can access here - Facebook

Every measure has been taken to avoid disruption to patients and visitors attending the practice on these dates. Please attend your appointments as normal but be aware there may be some noise distruption.

You asked, we listened!
We understand that a main cause of complaint at many GP Practices is difficulty getting through on the phone, particularly during peak times such as 8am in the morning. As a result of our patient’s feedback, Upton Village Surgery is pleased to announce our investment in a new cloud-based telephone system. We are confident that this new system will offer greater flexibility in how we handle incoming calls at the practice. The new system also enables a call back feature. If the receptionist is on another call when you ring and unable to answer instantly, rather than having to redial or wait in a queue, you will have the option to receive a call back which holds your place and will call you back as soon as the receptionist is available.
We hope you notice a great difference and benefit with our new telephone system which went live on Monday 12th December 2022.
When you call the surgery on 01244 382238 you will be presented with the following options:
- Appointments / General Enquiries (open 8am until 6.30pm)
- Prescription queries (open 10am until 12pm)
- Results (after 2pm Monday to Friday)
- Insurance and Solicitor reports (open 1pm-3pm)
- Referral queries (open 1pm-3pm)
If your enquiry is non-urgent and relating to one of the above but outside the operating times, we ask that you please call back within the specified hours.
*IMPORTANT* Medical Record Viewer - Delay
Further to our post below on the 22nd of September 2022 advising the launch of medical record viewer, we regret to inform you that the launch for this service has been postponed. The practice is closely monitoring this and we hope this service will be available to our patients early on in the New Year. We will communicate via our website and facebook page when this service has launced. We apologise for any inconvenience this causes.
Practice Appointments
From the 12th December until the 30th of December 2022, all practice appointments with the GP will be book on the day only. By making our appointments bookable on the day only for this period, it ensures we have plenty of availability for appointments during the Christmas and New Year period.
Enhanced Access
In conjunction with our PCN practices, you can now book an appointment from 6:30pm - 8:00pm Monday - Friday* and Saturdays 9:00am - 5:00pm. Please call the practice during our opening hours to book an appointment.
*Our practice currently offers additional appointments between 6:30pm - 8:00pm every Thursday. Appointments are available with the GP, Health Care Assistant and Nurse.

Survey text
A text message recently went out on Monday 10th October to all our patients, asking for a short survey to be completed on your experience with the practice and asking fo suggestions on improving the service we provide. The results of this survey are being managed by our Patient Participation Group.
Patient Access - Medical record viewer
From the 1st of November, patients will have access to their medical records through the NHS/patient access app. If you already have patient access, you do not need to request anything from the practice and this will automatically be available to you via the app from the 1st. If you would like to register for Patient Access, please enquire with our reception team.
You will not be able to see any information that pre-dates the 1st of November apart from allergies + medications. Hospital letters, test results, consultations will only be viewable for anything added to your record after the 1st of November and then so on.
The information available to you on your patient access app is your responsibility to keep safe. Please ensure passwords to the app are kept protected and if you choose to print any information off that the information is kept in a safe, secure place.
